JASON DAY BRINGS 5 WINS TO KAPALUA

I really have no idea how it feels to win just one PGA event, I'm not a pro, but these guys live for wins. Some guys go their whole PGA careers with zero wins, they came close but nothin!

Jason Day qualified for the Hyundai Tournament of Champions when he won the Farmers Insurance Open. But he wasn't done just yet, he went on the win four more. The RBC Canadian Open, the PGA Championship (a major yet!), The Barclays, and the BMW Championship. He's definitely the rock star of this bunch.

Man these guys from down under are pretty good golfers eh? If he does show up at the Plantation Course, buy your tickets, because now that Tiger's playing the grandpa role, this Jason Day guy... watch out!

"I want to challenge Mr. Day to a 9 hole event, a pay per view event. A purse of 100 million dollars. The winner gets 75, the loser 25. Here's what I want. I get to play 150 yards from each hole, and get 5 strokes per hole, and Jason will need to put some pebbles inside of his shoes, and put tape around his left middle finger and left index finger." What will be the Vegas odds?

WHY DO WE BUY DRIVERS EVERY FEW YEARS WHEN WE KNOW WE SUCK TO BEGIN WITH?

    bunkersparadise.com

Save your money man, you suck at golf, that driver made of stainless steel is good enough, you got kids to feed!!!!

The golf manufacturing industry will _______ ing hate my guts for this blog, but hey I'm just keeping it real! Most of us average golfers are always thinking, "Man if I get this new driver I"ll start tearing up the course! Yeah, just butter up the wife, save some cash, and then I can buy that $5,000.00 high perf driver, it comes with a GPS, and a lighter to light up my cigar on a business outing, yeah!"

Really, I used to be that dude... I'd see some shmuck on the driving range, fat and outta shape with this new looking long stick tagging the ball over the fence, and I'm "Wow, what kind of driver is that dude?" He'd say something like, "It's the new Takihara 1000, composite head, with filfaline bionic shaft, paid only $900.00 for it brand new." I'm like, that's the club for me. Then I'd buy that thing and in a few months claim bankruptcy.

We all get tricked by Satan himself, didn't you hear? Satan has a hand in all this marketing. Just kidding, but when your game still sucks after reviewing your financial records since 1987. What? I spent $50,000 on golf crap and still can't break 85?!!! Hmm, time to wise up. But if Taylor Made, Callaway, or Nike wants me to shut up, ah, it'll cost ya!

THE PLANTATION GOLF COURSE CAN BE AN EVIL MONSTER!

      golfweek.com

On a peaceful light trade wind day, the Plantation Course can be bearable for the average golfer playing from the regulation tees, or for better golfers the back tees. But when mother nature shows up with strong gusts of wind from various directions, and intermittent rains, watch out! She becomes an evil monster ready to devour you!

The Hyundai Tournament of Champions in a couple of weeks, this is what the pros and caddies will be studying. "Good luck if the winds come from all angles full blast! hahaha."

The course is 7,411 yards playing at par 73 so it is plenty long.

There was one year Rory Sabatini was in town, and the course was slow, so he put on a driving exhibition from the championship tees. All the guest services staff and a few onlookers was watching him nail his drives over 300 yards down the first fairway. And the sound of the ball sizzling through the air! When I hit a drive there's this sound, (pack)... not shhhhhhhfssssssst! but pack!

My lowest score ever from the regular tees was an 87, I felt like a champion. And that day was windless. So if the winds were up, I'd probably need mental therapy. The Plantation House Restaurant located in the clubhouse is a pretty good place for breakfast, lunch and dinners too.

I AM THE WALRUS COOKA CA CHOO

Craig Stadler was a unique character on the PGA Tour back in the days before Tiger ever showed up as a pro. Before Tiger, a lot of golfers were soft looking, they weren't chiseled as if some Navy Seals were out trying to make the cut.

Stadler is in his early 60s now playing on the Champions Tour, and still resembling the looks when he played in his younger days. I remember he was playing in the Hawaiian Open in Waialae on Oahu and the winds were howling crazy. He said that hitting low shots like grounders was all the pros could do that week. But the way he said it, it was like he was an everyday golfer. He was that porky dude before John Daly came on the scene and started to booze it up and gain weight. Stadler was comfortable with who he was, yeah he wasn't all in shape, but who gave a _____! Stadler was fun to watch, and that mustache he wore, he honestly looked like a walrus. No disrespect here, but Walrus was the right mammal to relate to Stadler.

Hmmm, I think if we get Kev over to the munie one day, give him some old clubs, and make him look goofy, I can make some money off of my friends. Yeah, I'd make him "The Sandbagger!"

FUNNY STUFF WEEKEND WARRIORS

Us everyday guys that own golf clubs, we can't take golfing seriously can we? I used to be that guy when I was younger, I'd get bloody pissed off at the munie, because I missed a par putt on the 12th, but I was already like 20 over? But I had to smash my sand wedge around the tree right? Who the hell did I think I was? I mean I got no sponsor to tend to. I wasn't getting paid to play, so why did I act like a _______ moron?!

Okay let's get to the funny stuff, one of my buddies, I'll call him C. Well C was just learning how to play golf, we had our foursome, just having fun at the old Village Course in Kapalua Maui. Now thanks to the old regime that ran the land company, it's a freaking hiking trail! Really? An Arnold Palmer designed course, you let the track go to weeds? Really?!!! C'mon man! Okay so we're playing, the four of us everyday guys. Well C walks up to the first tee, and I don't notice anything, until Brian one of our other buddies goes, "Hey Ron, look at C's feet."

I busted out laughing, C poor guy couldn't find golf shoes that fit him, instead he was wearing his old high school football cleats, swear to God man. But I gotta say, he was one heck of an athlete, and with those football shoes, he played pretty darn good I must say.

So if you can't find any golf shoes to fit ya, why you best use any pair of shoes with some pokey things underneath. Soccer shoes, construction boots, hey whatever works right?

COMPARING DRIVER DISTANCE

This is just a comparison, stuff that makes us go "hmmm" you know? I mean, coming from Hawaii and watching Michelle Wie grow up, we pulled for her when she went up against the big boys at the Sony Open.

Well then, let's take a look at Michelle Wie's driver distance.

PHOTO FROM FOX SPORTS ©
This Blogger is not making any profits from this blog post, just sharing information.

Michelle Wie's physical stature.

Height: 6'1"
Weight: 150 lbs.

Average driver distance: 256 yards.
Driver Accuracy: 61%

Now I can tell you this much, I don't hit my driver that far. But that's pretty far for a chick eh?

So this guy PGA Tour Player Luke Donald, an Englishman, wasn't a long hitter by today's standards. In 2011 he averaged only 261 yards. Hmm only 5 yards longer than pretty Michelle...however he did win that year with accuracy instead of going deep. I know what guys are thinking. "I want the long ball baby!" Like we all want longer... never mind. But hey, if a pro on the PGA Tour can win by accuracy, when the other monsters are banging it 50 yards past you all the time, getting to know those short sticks pays off.
